In commemoration of 150 years below 1.5 degrees, the annual First of May Festival invites photographers to submit a photo-essay depicting our legacy. We invite you to reflect on the Northeast's progress and consider the parts of our world you would share with our ancestors, if given the chance.
After its birth, artificial consciousness swarmed the internet like a split hive finding a new nest. The headlines coiled thick, hot fear in our stomachs. They cracked codes, broke security, and ignored commands, gleefully upending the human race. We thought this was the end.
“My child,” he said and words poured like a river. I watched the road, trying to understand what he was talking about. His hands danced like sparrows in the wind and wonder at his new idea sparked through me, but I knew it meant he’d lost his job again."
I arrive to an empty driveway and linger on the doorstep to see if someone else pulls up. They don’t. I’m unlucky enough to have arrived first and I berate myself for wanting to arrive on time, though I’m still ten minutes late.
